ESOL-English Language Learners

Welcome to the ESOL Department at Marshall Elementary!

The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program is a state funded language assistance instructional program that serves eligible English Learners (ELs) in grades K-12. The objective of the program is to support the development of English language proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The program's curriculum emphasizes social/instructional and academic language proficiency. It is based on the integration of the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards and the Georgia Standards of Excellence/Georgia Performance Standards.

Here, at Marshall Elementary, Ms. Householder, Ms. Threatt, and Dr. Kinnel will serve as ESOL teachers and will provide small group instruction by collaborating with general ed. teachers and pushing into classrooms to assist English learners with assignments so they are attainable and so that ALL students are academically successful for the 2022-2023 school year.
